How to secure a visa for the Czech Republic: a step-by-step guide to obtaining a visa for citizens of Ukraine
Are you a citizen of Ukraine planning to study Czech in the Czech Republic or are you planning a longer stay? Getting a visa can be a challenging process, but with this guide we'll show you how to do it step by step to give you the best chance of success.
1. Find out what type of visa you need
The first step is to determine the correct type of visa. For short stays (up to 90 days) you need a Schengen C visa. For longer stays, such as study, you need a long-stay visa or residence permit.
2. Collection of the necessary documents
To apply for a visa, you will need the following documents:
- Valid passport (must be valid for at least 90 days after planned departure from the Czech Republic)
- Proof of the purpose of the trip (e.g. admission letter from Slava Language School)
- Proof of accommodation in the Czech Republic
- Financial documents proving sufficient funds to cover the stay
- Passport-size photo
- Travel health insurance
3. Completing the application
The visa application must be completed accurately and without errors. The application form can be downloaded from the website of the Ministry of the Interior of the Czech Republic or directly from the website of the Czech Embassy in your country.
4. Booking an appointment at the Embassy
To apply, you must make an appointment at the Czech Embassy or Consulate. We recommend making reservations as early as possible, as dates may be fully booked several weeks in advance.
5. Submission of the application and payment of the fee
If you apply in person at the embassy, you will have to pay a visa fee. This fee varies depending on the type of visa and length of stay.
6. Waiting for a decision
Once the application is submitted, there will be a waiting period, which can last several weeks. During this time, additional interviews or documentation may be required.
7. Visa acceptance
Once your application has been approved, your visa will be issued and affixed to your passport. It is important to check all the details on the visa carefully.
Important tips for a successful application:
- Make sure all your documents are complete and up to date.
- Apply well in advance of your planned travel date.
- Prepare for a possible interview at the embassy by being able to explain clearly the purpose of your trip.
- We will be happy to help you prepare your Czech language for better placement.
